Hollywood Studio's Feature Presentation…"The Great Movie Ride"

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009
If you love the movies like I do, there is no better place to get your "fix" than at Disney's Hollywood Studios. This theme park celebrates Hollywood during its Golden era from the '30's and 40's. From its fantastic detailed streets like Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards from that age to attractions like "Catastrophe Canyon" and thrilling stunt shows as "Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular" this is a movie fanatic's dream. But for me, the Main Attraction here at the Studios is the "Great Movie Ride".

The Grand Canyon, Dinosaurs, and a Railroad.

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009
I can only imagine the creative path that Walt was on when he came up with this one. "OK, I want a big finish to the Grand Circle Tour of the Disneyland Railroad. It needs more than just a trip around the tracks. Something gargantuan...like the Grand Canyon! We'll do a big mural...put some dead animals in front of it...put a rousing piece of music behind it to pump in some extra emotion...and then in 8 years...we'll add some dinosaurs, okay?" Well, maybe it was SOMETHING like that. What I do know is that in 1958, Walt produced the film "The Grand Canyon" that was shown with "Sleeping Beauty." The music of Ferde Grofe's "Grand Canyon Suite" accompanied the 29 minute film and was the perfect companion to the natural beauty of this Arizona landmark.

Walt Disney World Honors Michael Phelps…USA's Hero!

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009
American loves its Heroes and what better way to honor its newest champion, Michael Phelps, winner of eight gold medals at a single Olympics, a new record, than a parade down Main St. U.S.A. at the Magic Kingdom. Mickey Mouse and Walt Disney World held out its Magical arms to embrace this young man who broke former Olympic champion swimmer Mark Spitz's record of seven gold medals at a single Olympic in 1972. Michael has won a total of 16 career Olympic medals, 14 of them gold.

Walt Disney World And The Weather

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009
After tropical storm Fay finally left central Florida and I saw the destruction it left in its wake, I started thinking back about the many people who visit Walt Disney World and how they seem not to take our weather here very seriously. The moniker "Sunshine State" is well earned for Florida. Here we have an abundant amount of Sun, mild winters and beautiful nights. I can ride my bike twelve months a year, and for the most part we are rarely home, because of all the outdoor activities (Like going to Walt Disney World!) you can enjoy. But on the other side of the coin, the payment for all of this beautiful weather is the fact that being in a tropical setting, we also are the target for hurricanes, tropical storms and of course thunderstorms. The thunderstorms are the most common violent weather we have here and these are what I would like to talk about.

Hollywood Studio's "Brown Derby"

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009
Located between the Starring Rolls Cafe and the Animation courtyard, Disney's Brown Derby restaurant is an exact replica of the famous eatery in Los Angeles during the Golden age of Hollywood. It was a beacon for the Hollywood elite and gave birth to the famous "Cobb Salad" which was actually invented by Robert Cobb, one of the owners of the restaurant and has been the highlight of the menu here.
